Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico and is an American-Mexican actor. She sings as well. Her mom raised her in the USA and she was subject to many racial taunts that left her feeling like a non-person. It was in her ninth grade when she began to gain confidence after being highly praised at an audition. This not only increased the confidence of her, but altered the direction in which she went on to pursue her career. In 1992, she earned her master's degree from the city's Julliard School. When she was 23, she began her career making her debut at the Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films featuring You've Got Mail. Her biggest breakthrough was when she appeared in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the original Broadway show Spamalot receiving not just her the Tony Award for her performance but also a flurry of praise from critics. The following year she was cast in the role of Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her becoming more famous. As a well-known singer, she has also recorded an album and a musical. She's also an activist who works hard for LGBT rights.
